Biography

Mr. Tate has successfully litigated complex civil cases of a wide variety, including wrongful death, chemical explosions, medical malpractice, defective products, pharmaceutical litigation, personal injury, asbestos, business litigation and mass torts. Mr. Tate’s background, experience and judgment have placed him in high demand as counsel representing injured parties.

Mr. Tate has earned an “AV” rating from Martindale Hubbell Law Directory. The “AV” rating is the highest available. He has earned a I 0.0 Superb rating from A VVO. A VVO is an organization that empowers consumers by rating lawyers. This is the highest rating available. He is the recipient of the F. Scott Baldwin Award for Most Outstanding Young Trial Lawyer, elected to Outstanding Lawyers of America, and is the four time recipient of Weidemann Wysocki Citation of Excellence. He was voted as Best Lawyer in Savannah by Savannah Magazine in 2013 and 2014. Mr. Tate is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and has served as a Regional Vice President and Chair of the New Lawyers Division. He is a member of the Savannah Trial Lawyers Association and has served as President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer. Mr. Tate is a Sustaining Member of the American Association of Justice, and has served as Chair of the New Lawyers Division, as a Leaders Forum Member and on the Board of Governors. Mr. Tate has been named by the American Trial Lawyers Association as one of the Top 100 Lawyers. He served on the Board of Governors of the National College of Advocacy and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Society; Melvin M. Belli Society (Outstanding Supporting Member); Supporting Fellow of the Roscoe Pound Foundation; and The International Society of Primerus Law Firms.

Mr. Tate represented 15 victims and families of victims in the Imperial Sugar Refinery Explosion in Savannah, Georgia, settling each case.

Additionally, Mr. Tate represented trucking companies against Pilot Flying J Corporation involving an improperly administered rebate program. That litigation settled in mediation.

verdicts and settlements

Since 2016, Tate Law Group has obtained verdicts and settlements alone in excess of$50 million for their clients, many of which exceeded the policy limits of insurance. As of this date, they  hold the record for the highest verdict ever obtained in Toombs County. The case involved a medical malpractice action against a local physician resulting in a $3.9 million verdict after two trials and an appeal to the Supreme Court of Georgia. Mark Tate obtained the largest verdict in the amount of Ten Million ($10,000,000.00) Dollars in a premises liability rape case in Chatham County. Mark has successfully resolved cases at trial and otherwise from Palm Beach County, Florida to Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
